Mike Wallace

Mike Wallace passed away in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 19, 2008. What a shock to all of us. Mike was a huge part of The Rock Church. www.therockchurch.info. My Pastor posted something on his blog also at www.knightrous.com.

I found this pic on Mike's My Space. I wanted to put a picture of what reminds me of Mike. Him with his Harley. I remember when he got this Harley. He was so excited. I didn't know Mike as well as some people, but my heart grieves. Mostly for his children and his closest friends because I know I'm going to miss him. How much more will they miss him?

A scripture that helped me during a time that Joe and I lost a dear friend was in Psalms 116:15 "The Lord's loved ones are precious to him; it grieves Him when they die." I still try to wrap my brain around that one, but I guess not for me to always figure it out.

Mike was a man who didn't judge others. I remember when I first came to the church he was one of the first people who reached out to me, encouraged me to start ushering, and loved on me where I was at. I was a mess when I got there, but he didn't seem to care. He loved with a love that only God can give. He did what Jesus tells us to do. In a nutshell, love God, love people, serve generously. Mike did this.

Mike was a generous man to all. I was talking to another friend who reminded me of a time he paid for dinner for a bunch of us, when Mike himself didn't eat. He did this more times than I can count. I remember a few times when he came to my house for dinner, and before he came I asked him if there was anything he didn't like. He said anything green. I thought he was joking, and cooked green beans with the dinner. He then politely reminds me "I don't eat green." Of course, that awesome smile he had and the twinkle in his eyes that always followed. If you know Mike, you know what I'm talking about.

Losing people in my life always causes me to reflect on my own life. Do those who are in my life know that I love them? Those irritations I occasionally can hold onto get smoothed over, and it causes me to be able to reach out again. I made sure to tell those close to me today how much I love and appreciate them. Even though most people know that you love them, people always need to hear that they are loved, missed, and appreciated.

Mike, you are loved. I will miss you, but know you are in heaven with our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love you Mike, and won't say goodbye, I'll just say see you later.

  1. Great article Michele. When I came back from Arizona, he knew I was a mess, and he let me know that Id be okay. Then he would give me a funny looking face, and Id bust up laughing. He will be missed by so many people.
