Book Review — Piercing the Darkness, Frank Peretti

I just finished another book.  Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti.  It was riveting from beginning to end, and I couldn't put it down.  One thing I find when I read his books, however, is that because of a lot of reference to the demonic, it can tend to cause me to have weird dreams and then I start looking around every bush and corner for a demon.  (not quite that extreme, but you get the idea.)

It was a great read, and I really enjoyed how it all tied together in the end.  If you enjoy suspense type novels, this is a great one.

  1. I can't read those kinds of books for the very same reason…..and, since my husband spends lots of time away on business….I'm here alone with just the dog… imagination runs away with itself and i would be up all night. (smile) I almost didn't make it through the Tom LaHay/Jerry Jenkins books, but I managed. So, I stick with the more contemporary fiction…….I read a lot of Jane Kirkpatrick's books, Lynn Austin, Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, Tracy Peterson, Francine Rivers, as well as others. My mom and I are huge readers…..and I have quite a library built up already….planning to take them to church for our ladies library and share them with others.

  2. Thank you for the list of other authors — I will use those next time I'm out — Francine Rivers is one of my favorites right now — I'm reading the one in the series titled "Ruth" — very good so far — can't wait to write a review on that one too. I also found one — stumbled acrossed it — it sounds very interesting — love books!! That is a GREAT idea on sharing the books — I love that — I have quite a collection myself — very good idea.

  3. I have read every book Francine Rivers has out……."The Shofar Blew" (I think that's the name) is excellent……..but, I recommend all of her books. She's one of my favorite authors and the "Mark of the Lion" series is my all time favorite book series…..especially since "The Gladiator" with Russell Crowe is my favorite movie…..they kind of go hand in hand as the series is about "the games" in Rome. Then there is a series by Lynn Austin called "The Chroncicles of the Kings" and it is all about King Hezekiah…..absolutely wonderful. There are five books in this series. When you first begin……you don't know if you are going to like it or not…..but once you get about mid-book….you can't put it down. It even made me get back into the Bible and read all the scripture given dealing with the books.
